Shivam Dube, an integral part of the Indian T20I team and a participant in the Asia Cup 2025, is proving his worth as an all-rounder. The 32-year-old, celebrated for his powerful hitting, is making a name for himself with his bowling. Dube’s recent performance saw him take three wickets while conceding only four runs in two overs.
India’s bowling strategy incorporated a strong spin attack, featuring Axar Patel, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav. Dube’s seam bowling added a crucial dimension, offering a balanced attack alongside Jasprit Bumrah. Dube has claimed eight wickets in seven matches since Gautam Gambhir became involved.
In post-match comments, Dube praised Hardik Pandya, describing him as a key figure in his development. He sees Pandya as a brother, valuing his IPL and international cricket experience. Dube mentioned that he constantly seeks guidance from Pandya, including batting advice. His aim is to learn and apply the knowledge to improve his game. Dube highlighted the support he received from Suryakumar Yadav, Gautam Gambhir, as well as the coaching of Morne Morkel. According to Dube, the captain and coach told him in advance that he would be bowling, expressing their confidence in him. He also shared insights on Morne Morkel’s role in enhancing his bowling skills. Morkel’s advice on using the crease, bowling from wide of the stumps, and perfecting his slower balls, along with run-up adjustments, have been critical in his improvement. This has led to improved pace and confidence for Dube with the ball.
