The cricketing world is abuzz with discussions regarding Shreyas Iyer’s exclusion from the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar has expressed his disagreement with the decision, scrutinizing chief selector Ajit Agarkar’s choices. Agarkar cited the need to select a squad optimized for the tournament as the reason for Iyer’s exclusion, clarifying that it was not a matter of any individual’s shortcoming. Nayar, who was recently let go from his coaching role, raised the point that if Iyer was seen as a valuable asset, he should have been included in the reserves. He found it perplexing that Iyer was left out of the 20-member squad, suggesting this indicates Iyer is not currently in the team’s long-term plans.
