India’s prolific opener, Smriti Mandhana, delivered a masterclass against New Zealand in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, notching up a stunning century that has etched her name in the record books. Her commanding knock of 109 runs from 95 balls not only set a strong foundation for India but also saw her achieve several historic milestones in women’s cricket.
With this impressive 14th ODI century, Mandhana has now edged past Suzie Bates of New Zealand, who has 13 centuries. This places Mandhana firmly in second position on the all-time list for most ODI centuries in women’s cricket, with only the prolific Meg Lanning of Australia, who has 15 centuries, ahead of her. Her consistent ability to perform at the highest level is a cornerstone of India’s batting strength.
Mandhana’s century also draws her level with Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur for the most ODI World Cup centuries by an Indian player, with both now having accumulated three. This achievement underscores Mandhana’s status as one of India’s premier match-winners on the global stage.
Moreover, Mandhana is currently leading the charge in 2025, holding the distinction of hitting the most sixes among women cricketers this year, having already cleared the boundary 29 times. Her captivating batting style, which blends traditional shots with powerful hitting, has made her a celebrated figure.
