The South African cricket team is dealing with mounting injury concerns as they prepare to face England. Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out of the first T20I due to a groin strain sustained during the warm-up. His late replacement was Corbin Bosch. Maharaj was recently recalled to the T20I team. Lungi Ngidi will miss the entire T20I series due to a right hamstring strain. He will return to South Africa and attempt to recover for the World Test Championship series in Pakistan. Nandre Burger has been added to the squad as a replacement. Prior to this, David Miller was also ruled out due to a hamstring injury. No replacement for Miller has been named. However, there are some positives as Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, and Lizaad Williams returned to play. Rabada bowled the first over in Cardiff after recovering from an ankle injury, while Jansen played two overs after thumb surgery, and Williams was in the squad following knee surgery.
