
The South Delhi Superstarz advanced to the Delhi Premier League playoffs with a thrilling 8-wicket win against Purani Dilli 6 in a rain-affected match. They chased a daunting target of 134 in a 7-over chase, ultimately succeeding with one ball remaining in a Wednesday evening filled with explosive hitting.
Openers Tejasvi Dahiya and Anmol Sharma set the stage with an aggressive batting display, dominating the early overs. They rapidly achieved the tournament’s fastest team fifty, establishing their dominance. Their partnership added a massive 122 runs in just 5.5 overs, leaving Purani Dilli 6 on the back foot.
Dahiya’s innings ended at 69 off 21 balls, his contribution a key element of the chase. Although there was a brief hiccup when Vision Panchal was run out for six in the final over, Sharma remained focused. With two balls to go and a few runs needed, he hit a powerful six over long-on to seal the win. Sharma finished unbeaten on 56 off only 17 balls, guiding his team to victory with a calm and composed performance.
Dev Lakra stood out for Purani Dilli 6 after they faced early setbacks. After a rain delay, South Delhi’s Aman Bharti struck early, dismissing both Vansh Bedi and Samarth Seth in the opening over. Lakra and Yug Gupta responded with a furious counterattack.
Their partnership of 117 runs at the third wicket was exceptionally fast-paced. Gupta added a fiery 38 off 14 balls before being run out. Lakra was in exceptional form, scoring an unbeaten 85 off 23 balls. His powerful hitting, including numerous sixes, thrilled the crowd as Purani Dilli 6 scored a significant 133/3 in 7 overs.
Despite the large target, South Delhi Superstarz demonstrated their skill, successfully chasing the required runs and securing a spot in the playoffs. Their aggressive batting style and composure under pressure position them as serious contenders for the tournament title.
