Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga were instrumental in Sri Lanka’s successful pursuit of the target. Nissanka’s innings was crucial, scoring 68 runs off 44 balls despite a few missed catches. Hong Kong had earlier set a challenging target of 149/4, with Anshy Rath and Nizakat Khan contributing significantly. Charith Asalanka, the Sri Lankan captain, assessed the game after the victory. Asalanka admitted these things can happen in the shorter format but stressed the need to improve. He mentioned that they were confident due to the pitch conditions. He also gave credit to Hong Kong, acknowledging their strong batting, and stated that Sri Lanka’s initial bowling was not up to the mark. He emphasized the importance of performing well under pressure.
