Angelo Mathews wrote in an emotional message that ‘My dear friends and family, with heartfelt thanks and countless memories, now the time has come to bid farewell to Test cricket. Playing for Sri Lanka has been the biggest honor of my life. Whenever I wore a national jersey, there is no match for that patriotism. Cricket gave me everything and I will always be grateful for this.
Mathews will be available for ODI and T20
Matthews has been the captain of Sri Lanka. He led the team in 34 Tests. Under the captaincy of Mathews, Sri Lanka won the Handingley Test in 2014. It was a memorable victory. In the second innings of that Test, Mathews changed the attitude of the match by scoring 160 runs. Matthews are not part of Sri Lanka’s ODI or T20 team, yet they have made it clear that if the country needs, I will be available for white ball format.
