
The World Athletics Championship 2025 final is set to feature an epic showdown between Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem. The men’s javelin throw final in Tokyo will occur on Thursday, drawing global attention.
The rivalry between India and Pakistan will be highlighted as two of the world’s top javelin throwers compete for the gold medal in a packed athletics stadium.
Neeraj Chopra, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist and 2023 World Champion, will face Arshad Nadeem, who won gold at Paris 2024, becoming Pakistan’s first Olympic athletics champion. The Tokyo event holds special significance for Chopra. Nadeem, as the reigning Olympic champion, aims to win the world title.
Arshad Nadeem encountered challenges in the qualification rounds. In Group B, his first throw was 76.99m, falling short of the 84.50m required for automatic qualification. However, he managed an 85.28m throw on his final attempt, ensuring his place in the final.
Neeraj Chopra easily qualified for the final, needing only one throw of 84.85m in his first attempt. He finished third in Group A. Julian Weber of Germany (87.21m) and Anderson Peters of Grenada, who had an impressive throw of 89.53m, finished ahead of him.
Sachin Yadav will also compete, representing India in the final after progressing through the rounds. He finished 10th overall.
The final will see twelve elite athletes battling for gold in Tokyo.
The men’s javelin throw final is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2025, at the National Stadium, Tokyo. The competition starts at 6:30 PM local time, 3:00 PM IST, and 2:30 PM PKT. The event will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network and Jio Hotstar.
