
Novak Djokovic overcame an injury scare to defeat Learner Tien in straight sets at the US Open 2025. Djokovic, aiming for his 25th Grand Slam singles title, defeated the young American player 6-1, 7-6, 6-2. Despite needing a medical timeout for a foot injury, Djokovic showcased his resilience and experience to secure the victory. Djokovic established his dominance early, controlling the first set with sharp play. Tien fought back in the second set, creating a challenge for Djokovic. The Serbian player, however, recovered well, ultimately winning the set in a tiebreak. Djokovic took a medical timeout for treatment on his foot. Upon his return, Djokovic regained momentum in the third set. Tien attempted a comeback, but Djokovic responded decisively, breaking Tien’s serve to close out the match. Djokovic will play Zachary Svajda in the second round, having shown flashes of the exceptional tennis that has defined his career.
