Jannik Sinner’s strong showing at the 2025 US Open progressed as he defeated Denis Shapovalov to advance to the round of 16, with a final score of 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. Although Shapovalov ended Sinner’s impressive run of hard court set victories dating back to the 2024 US Open, Sinner quickly regained his momentum, showcasing his typical composure and agility as the match unfolded. This win also signifies Sinner’s 20th career win at the US Open, setting a new mark in his career. At 24 years old, the Italian has now attained 20 wins in each of the four Grand Slam tournaments. He becomes the fourth youngest player to accomplish this rare achievement, joining legends such as Rafael Nadal, Boris Becker, and Novak Djokovic. In the Round 16 of the US Open 2025, Sinner is scheduled to play against Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik. Bublik is one of only two players, alongside Carlos Alcaraz, to have defeated Sinner since August 2024. In his previous match, defending champion and world No. 1 Jannik Sinner secured his place in the fourth round of the US Open 2025 following a hard-fought four-set victory over 27th seed Denis Shapovalov on Saturday, August 30. Jannik Sinner recovered from a slow start to win 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, extending his impressive hardcourt major winning streak to 24 matches.
