The Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season is witnessing a remarkable resurgence from Hanuma Vihari, the experienced Indian Test batsman. Currently representing Tripura, Vihari has recorded two consecutive centuries, the latest being an unbeaten 143 against Assam in the ongoing fourth-round encounter in Agartala. This follows his impressive 141 in the previous match against Bengal, showcasing his enduring class.
Vihari’s composed and dominant innings of 143 not out from 215 balls, featuring 17 fours and a six, was the cornerstone of Tripura’s strong position at 316/4 at stumps. His return to form comes at a time when he is looking to break back into the Indian Test setup, having previously played 16 matches and scored 839 runs for the country.
Fans recall Vihari’s pivotal role in the historic 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where his tenacious partnership with Ashwin at the Sydney Cricket Ground secured a vital draw. This performance epitomized his fighting spirit, a quality he is now demonstrating once again in the Ranji Trophy.
In other Ranji Trophy matches, Mumbai’s Musheer Khan and Siddesh Lad scored centuries to recover from an early setback, finishing the day at 289/5 against Himachal Pradesh. Delhi was all out for 211 against Jammu and Kashmir, who had reached 31/3 in response. Jharkhand’s Kumar Kushagra and Uttar Pradesh’s Madhav Kaushik and Aryan Juyal were also among the centurions on a day of significant cricketing action.
