Bhuvneshwar Kumar has come to the defense of fellow Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, addressing the criticism surrounding his workload management. Kumar highlighted the intense physical and mental strain fast bowlers experience when competing across all cricket formats. His remarks are in response to critiques of Bumrah’s playing schedule during the recent Test series in England.
It was planned that Bumrah would participate in only three of the five Tests. Despite this, there was still criticism of Bumrah when he didn’t play in the final match. India lost the three matches in which he played. Bhuvneshwar, speaking in an interview, defended Bumrah, noting that it is difficult to expect a fast bowler to play every game. He emphasized that Bumrah’s experience and impact in the games he did play should be considered. He stressed the necessity of workload management to ensure player longevity. Bumrah is anticipated to return for the Asia Cup T20 in September. His participation in the 2025-26 home Test series is still uncertain.
