Competition is heating up in the smartphone market with a focus on long battery life. Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, is reportedly developing a new smartphone that will feature a battery between 8500mAh and 9000mAh. This development is thanks to advancements in silicon-carbon technology, enabling the integration of large-capacity batteries without adding bulk to the phone. Redmi is utilizing its technology by upgrading the silicon-carbon composite material. The plan is to implement a high-capacity battery while maintaining a slim profile, with a thickness of under 8.5mm, without affecting the battery’s longevity. The upcoming device would then have the largest battery in Redmi’s smartphone range. Moreover, Redmi is likely to launch Redmi Turbo 5 Pro featuring an 8000mAh battery, an upgrade from the 7550mAh battery in the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. The rival company, Honor, is also preparing to release a phone with a 10000mAh battery.
