The government is taking significant steps to combat cyber fraud through technological advancements. The indigenous AI tool ASTR, developed by the Department of Telecommunications, is designed to identify and eliminate fraudulent SIM card usage. The tool has already resulted in the disconnection of more than 8.2 million mobile connections that were found to be registered under multiple aliases for a single user. The Ministry of Home Affairs has also established the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to streamline the process of addressing and resolving cybercrime incidents. Furthermore, the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) is in place, allowing the public to report instances of cybercrime directly.
