Google has introduced its latest Pixel 10 series, featuring a new satellite calling function for WhatsApp users. This will enable voice and video calls to be made over satellite networks. The announcement was made on Google’s X account and subsequently verified by WhatsApp, with availability commencing on August 28th.
The main benefit of this feature lies in its capacity to provide connectivity in areas with poor or absent network coverage. A brief video released by Google shows a Pixel device receiving a WhatsApp call via satellite. This means that individuals in remote locations like mountains and forests can now utilize WhatsApp voice and video calls more effectively.
The satellite calling service will be supported by select carriers. Users should be aware of possible additional charges beyond their existing plans. The feature functions best when users are in open areas with a clear view of the sky. The call quality might not match the speed and smoothness of standard mobile networks.
This new function in the Pixel 10 series is especially valuable for travelers and those who live in areas with network limitations, as it enhances connectivity through WhatsApp.
Furthermore, Meta is actively testing a new feature aimed at helping users verify the accuracy of messages. The ‘Ask Meta AI’ feature is expected to be introduced soon within WhatsApp messages, providing users with extra information on forwarded messages.
