Google has confirmed the launch of its Pixel 10 series at the Made by Google event in New York on August 20th. The new smartphones are expected to bring a series of major improvements.
Rumors suggest the lineup will include the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 XL, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The design is not expected to change drastically, retaining a similar look to the existing models.
The most notable enhancements are expected in the camera. The base Pixel 10 will receive a triple camera setup with a telephoto lens, previously exclusive to the Pro versions. There are reports that the main sensor will be smaller than the Pixel 9’s, potentially impacting low-light performance. The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL are likely to use the same camera system found in the earlier Pro models.
Artificial intelligence will play a significant role with the integration of new AI tools. These include Speak-to-Tweak for voice-based photo editing, Sketch-to-Image for creating photos from drawings, and the new Pixel Sense virtual assistant. A Camera Coach feature will also provide real-time guidance on photo composition.
The Pixel 10 series will be powered by the new Tensor G5 chipset, produced by TSMC using a 3nm process. This shift from Samsung is expected to improve performance and thermal efficiency.
The phones might be larger and heavier, with a larger battery and support for Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. This feature is new to the Pixel series.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is poised to be the world’s first dust-resistant (IP68) foldable device.
New color options are also expected, with the Pixel 10 featuring Indigo, Frost, and Limoncello, and the Pro models offering Porcelain, Jade, and Moonstone. Overall, the Pixel 10 series focuses on improvements in camera, AI features, battery, and wireless charging, making the August 20th launch highly anticipated.
