India is witnessing a surge in the AI sector, driven by the IndiaAI mission and the interest of global tech companies. OpenAI is setting up its first office in India. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister, emphasized India’s strong position to drive the next wave of AI-led transformation. Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, has also commented on the rapid adoption of AI in India, with a fourfold increase in ChatGPT users over the last year. The IndiaAI mission focuses on building a trusted AI ecosystem. India will host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, aiming to bring AI benefits and opportunities to the forefront for both India and the world.
