
The Apple iPhone 17 Series is now available in India, with pre-orders starting today. This release provides a timely opportunity to examine the price trends of iPhones in the Indian market. Over the years, Apple has adjusted the prices of its iPhone models, significantly impacting the overall cost for consumers. Since 2019, the base model prices have increased substantially, approximately 28%, and consumer inflation has simultaneously grown, standing at around 36%.
Price Trajectory: In 2019, the iPhone 11 was introduced with an initial price tag of Rs 64,900. The iPhone 12, released in 2020, was priced at Rs 69,990. The next price increase was seen in 2021 with the iPhone 13, which was launched at Rs 79,990, a Rs 10,000 increase from its predecessor. The subsequent models, iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16, were launched at the same price of Rs 79,990. However, the iPhone 17, launched in 2025, has seen another increase of Rs 3,000, with a starting price of Rs 82,900.
Pro Series Pricing: The iPhone 12 Pro was initially priced at Rs 1,19,900 in 2020, followed by the iPhone 13 Pro, which maintained the same price in 2021. The iPhone 14 Pro was launched in 2022 at Rs 1,29,900. In 2023, the iPhone 15 Pro was launched at Rs 1,34,900, and in 2024, the iPhone 16 Pro at Rs 1,19,900. For 2025, the iPhone 17 Pro has been launched at Rs 1,34,900.
Pro Max Series: The iPhone 12 Pro Max was priced at Rs 1,29,900, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max was also launched at Rs 1,29,900. The iPhone 14 Pro Max was released at Rs 1,39,900, the iPhone 15 Pro Max at Rs 1,59,900, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max at an initial price of Rs 1,44,900. The iPhone 17 Pro Max has been launched in 2025 with a starting price of Rs 1,49,900.
Plus Model Pricing: The iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 15 Plus, and iPhone 16 Plus models have each maintained a starting price of Rs 89,900, with no price adjustments.
