The gaming world is buzzing with leaks of an Xbox-branded VR headset, developed in collaboration with Meta. Dubbed the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition, the device appears to be a rebadged Meta Quest 3S, sporting an Xbox color scheme, an Xbox controller, an Elite strap and a three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Set to retail at $399, the headset will offer 128GB of storage and could launch as early as June 24. This move signifies Microsoft’s focus on expanding its Xbox presence through partnerships, similar to the recently announced Asus ROG Xbox Ally.
Designed as a more accessible VR option, the Quest 3S Xbox Edition will compete with existing stand-alone devices, such as the PlayStation VR2. It promises access to the entire Meta Quest library and the ability to stream Xbox Cloud Gaming content directly in VR. This integration is facilitated by Meta’s Horizon OS licensing program, which has included Xbox as a key partner since April 2024. This product, with a strategic partnership discussed as early as last year, could be a milestone for Xbox’s entry into the VR world.
