A legal battle has begun in the tech industry as Elon Musk’s xAI and his social media platform, X, have filed a lawsuit against Apple. The core of the complaint is that Apple is allegedly working to stifle competition by favoring OpenAI and its ChatGPT. This move comes amid discussions regarding Apple’s position in the AI arena, with some suggesting the company is trailing.
Musk contends that Apple’s partnership with OpenAI is detrimental to other companies by making it hard to develop and scale AI chatbots and super-apps. He alleges that Apple is utilizing App Store regulations to the disadvantage of competitors. This collaboration restricts access to iPhone user data for external companies, ultimately impacting the growth of AI-driven super-apps. Musk characterizes this as a strategic alliance between entities with monopolistic control.
