Reliance Jio has removed its Rs 799 plan, which offered 1.5GB of daily data, which is expected to affect a number of users. The plan, which provided 1.5 GB of daily data for 84 days, has been discontinued. Subscribers affected by this will now need to move to the Rs 889 plan, which also offers 1.5 GB of daily data, but also for 84 days. Alternatively, an entry-level plan with 1.5 GB per day is still available for Rs 239 and lasts for 22 days. As of Wednesday evening, the Rs 799 plan was still available on PhonePe. Jio has also stopped offering entry-level plans providing 1 GB of daily data for Rs 209 (22 days) and Rs 249 (28 days). These discontinued plans are now only available through physical retail outlets, removing the online recharge option. This move effectively sets the industry’s new base plan at Rs 299. Jio stated that the 1.5 GB/day for 84 days plan is still available across popular payment platforms, including PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm, along with their own website. The company reiterated its commitment to providing accessible recharge options. The Rs 799 plan features an 84-day validity, includes free national roaming, and offers unlimited calling within India. It provides 1.5GB of high-speed data per day, 100 free daily SMS, and access to Jio TV and Jio AI Cloud. Jio also provides a budget-friendly 84-day plan that includes access to an OTT app. Airtel has also discontinued its budget-friendly mobile data plan offering 1GB of data per day. This plan is no longer available on the company’s website, requiring customers who still desire 1GB of daily data to subscribe to the Rs 299 plan instead.
