ASML, a prominent player in the semiconductor industry, has expressed concerns about the accessibility of EU leaders. During the Brussels summit, Frank Heemskerk, ASML’s Vice President of Global Public Affairs, discussed the difficulties European companies encounter when trying to engage with top-level EU figures. When asked about access to officials like Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Heemskerk said it was ‘not always easy.’ He contrasted this by highlighting that accessing senior officials in the White House is easier. This observation comes after the disclosure that ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet held a two-hour meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Heemskerk described the Prime Minister’s receptiveness, stating that Modi asked what could be improved. The ASML executive urged European policymakers to take note, emphasizing the importance of political leaders engaging with companies making substantial investments. He also made a point about ASML’s deal with Mistral.
