The competition in the smartphone industry intensifies with Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, a device that has redefined design standards. Its thin profile, measuring just 5.84mm, houses flagship specifications and advanced camera technology. Apple’s iPhone 17 Air is poised to enter this segment with a design possibly even slimmer, potentially around 5.5mm, according to emerging information.
The Galaxy S25 Edge boasts a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, offering users a premium visual experience. The camera array comprises a 200MP f/1.7 wide lens, a 1/1.56” sensor with PDAF and OIS, and a 12MP ultrawide front-facing camera. It has a 3900mAh battery with 25W wired charging capabilities.
While Apple hasn’t confirmed specifics, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 6.7-inch OLED screen with HDR support. It’s likely to incorporate the A19 (3nm) chipset with a hexa-core architecture and an Apple GPU. The device will operate on iOS 19. Storage variants are expected to include 128GB with 12GB RAM, 256GB with 12GB RAM, and 512GB with 12GB RAM. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to have a single 48MP main camera with a dual-tone LED flash and HDR support and a 12MP front camera. The anticipated 5.5mm thickness of the phone raises concerns regarding battery life, possibly inferior to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge’s 3900mAh battery. There’s also speculation about a special case from Apple to address potential battery limitations.
