Mark your calendars for September 9th, as Apple prepares to host its highly anticipated product launch event. The event will showcase the latest iterations of iPhones, smartwatches, and additional peripherals. These new product releases are strategically aimed at bolstering Apple’s competitive standing against formidable rivals like Samsung, Google, and prominent Chinese brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi. With a perceived lag in generative artificial intelligence capabilities, Apple is emphasizing hardware enhancements to maintain customer engagement within its ecosystem.
The upcoming event will see the introduction of four new iPhone models. The iPhone Air is one of the most eagerly awaited devices, with reports indicating a significantly thinner profile compared to the iPhone 16 Pro. This design change could impact battery life, potentially mitigated by a new battery case. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to include the A19 processor, a 6.6-inch screen, a USB-C port, ProMotion support, and eSIM-only functionality. It will also feature Apple’s in-house Wi-Fi chip and C1 modem. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are expected to revert to an aluminum frame, enhancing heat dissipation and reducing weight. The standard iPhone 17 will retain its design but will feature a slightly larger 6.3-inch screen. Other upgrades include a new chip, a ProMotion display for the non-Pro model, and Qualcomm modems. Additionally, Apple is preparing to launch new accessories, including a revamped case and cross-body strap.
Updates are also planned for Apple’s wearable and audio product lines. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will boast a larger screen, the new S11 chip, 5G Redcap support, and satellite-based communication features. The budget-friendly Apple Watch SE will get a speedier chip and a new display. Health-related upgrades, including hypertension detection, are in development, and a paid Health+ service is expected to launch next year. In addition, the AirPods Pro 3 are expected to arrive with a heart rate monitor, a smaller charging case, and a live translation feature.
