WhatsApp is enhancing its chat experience with a new Wave Emoji feature. The goal is to provide a more intuitive way to start new conversations. This new feature is expected to make initiating chats more approachable.
The Wave Emoji is a simple hand-waving emoji, which can be used as an alternative greeting to ‘Hello’ or ‘Hi’. It’s especially helpful for users who might be hesitant to begin conversations with new contacts. WABetaInfo demonstrated the emoji in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.21.24 via a post on X. The emoji appears in one-on-one chats with new contacts. This feature is not available for group chats.
Beyond text chats, WhatsApp is also introducing a ‘Wave All’ option in voice chats. This will send a notification to all group members to join the voice chat. It’s an efficient way to gather everyone for meetings or discussions.
The Wave Emoji is currently in its beta testing phase and will likely be rolled out to all users after testing.
