WhatsApp’s popularity has made it a preferred platform for communication over traditional calls. It offers various features, including messaging, calling, and media sharing. When users change their mobile numbers, they often worry about losing their chat history and group data.
For those changing numbers, WhatsApp provides a Change Number feature to simplify the process. This feature allows you to continue using your old account with a new number. It eliminates the need to create a new account and ensures that your chats and group data are preserved.
How to Change Your WhatsApp Number:
1. Open WhatsApp on your phone.
2. Go to Settings. On Android, tap the three dots in the top right to find Settings.
3. On iPhones, Settings is in the bottom right.
4. Click Account, and then select Change Number.
5. Click Next. Enter your old number first, and then your new number. Click Next. You will receive an OTP on your new number; enter it to complete the change.
Before Changing Your Number: Important Points
Make sure you can receive SMS or calls on your new number for OTP verification. You also need access to your old number. You cannot change your number on WhatsApp Web or Desktop; a smartphone is required.
