Meta is working towards deeper integration across its social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram. WhatsApp users can expect a new feature soon that will allow them to set their Instagram and Facebook profile pictures directly as their WhatsApp profile picture.
This feature was first observed in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.21.23. The update has been released to certain beta users, with a wider rollout planned in the upcoming weeks. Until now, users could only choose a profile picture by taking a photo, selecting from their gallery, using an avatar, or generating an AI image. The new feature introduces Instagram and Facebook as options. To use this, users will go to WhatsApp profile settings and click ‘Edit Profile Picture.’ As long as the user’s Meta accounts (WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook) are linked in the Meta Accounts Center, they can upload their DP directly from Instagram or Facebook. This simplifies the process for those who want consistent profile pictures across all their social media accounts, eliminating the need to download the image or take a screenshot and preserving the image quality. This addition is expected to enhance user experience, offering a more integrated and user-friendly approach to managing profile pictures.
