Cyber Police Kashmir is cautioning the public about an online investment scam exploiting the Zupedia app and Zupedia.com website. The advisory, shared on X and Facebook, highlights the deceptive tactics used by fraudsters. The scam begins with registration, followed by requests to rate online content. Victims are then encouraged to recharge their accounts with sums like 1950, 8000, or 24000.
The scammers initially pay small amounts for completed tasks, building trust and encouraging larger investments. Ultimately, victims are unable to withdraw their earnings, leading to financial losses. The criminals behind the scam sometimes go as far as emptying victims’ accounts.
If you are a victim of this scam, take immediate action. Report the fraud on the Indian government’s Cyber Crime Portal (cybercrime.gov.in) or call the helpline at 1930. Reporting the incident promptly increases the chance of recovering the lost money.
