The latest deployment takes place as California challenges the constitutionality of the deployments in court. The White House has responded by criticizing California Governor Gavin Newsom. Rob Bonta, the California Attorney General, has strongly criticized Trump’s decision. Bonta argues that the federal order is unconstitutional. Governor Gavin Newsom has also criticized the order. The protests began following ICE raids which led to the arrest of numerous undocumented immigrants.
