
Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Air India Kanishka bombing, Bob Rae, Canada’s UN representative, underscored the critical need for Canadians to understand the attack’s origins within the country. Speaking at the site of the crash in Cork, Ireland, Rae highlighted that the bombing was planned and carried out by a Canada-based group. He described the event as an integral part of Canada’s historical narrative. The bombing, perpetrated by the Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa, caused the deaths of 329 people. Indian and Irish officials, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Prime Minister Micheal Martin, paid tribute to the victims, reinforcing the global imperative to combat terrorism and violent extremism.
