An Air India flight traveling from Amritsar to Birmingham experienced a concerning event when the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) activated before landing. The unexpected deployment of the RAT, typically used in emergencies, caused immediate attention. The crew managed to land the aircraft safely. The aircraft has been taken out of service for a complete technical assessment. This incident also caused the cancellation of flight AI114, which was supposed to fly from Birmingham to Delhi. Air India is currently making arrangements for the passengers to reach their destinations. The RAT system automatically deploys in critical situations, such as electrical failures or engine malfunctions. The flight AI117 departed Amritsar at 12:52 PM on October 4th and arrived in Birmingham at 7:07 PM.
