A fatal house fire in Albany, New York, has resulted in the tragic death of Sahaja Reddy Udumala, a 24-year-old Indian national. The fire, which began in an adjacent building on Thursday, December 4th, quickly engulfed Sahaja’s residence, leading to her demise. She was reportedly asleep at the time of the incident. The Indian Consulate confirmed the student’s passing and is coordinating efforts to support her family. Sahaja, originally from Jangaon district in Telangana, was diligently pursuing her Master’s degree in the US. Her cousin shared the devastating news, detailing the severe burn injuries that tragically proved fatal, affecting an overwhelming majority of her body. Despite a courageous battle for survival, her condition deteriorated, leading to organ failure. A crowdfunding effort has been established to manage funeral costs and facilitate her repatriation.
