
A devastating residential fire in Albany, New York, has resulted in the tragic death of Sahaja Reddy Udumala, a 24-year-old Indian student. The fire, which started in a nearby structure, rapidly spread to her home on Thursday night, trapping her as she slept. Udumala, originally from Jangaon, Telangana, was actively pursuing her Master’s degree. Authorities confirmed that she succumbed to severe burn injuries sustained during the blaze. The Indian Consulate has reached out to her family, offering full support and assistance during their time of immense grief. Her cousin shared heartbreaking details of her final moments, noting extensive burns and a courageous fight against organ failure. The family is overwhelmed with shock and sorrow over the untimely demise of their bright and ambitious daughter. A crowdfunding campaign has been initiated to manage the repatriation and funeral expenses for the promising student whose future was tragically extinguished.
