Israeli air strikes conducted on Saturday resulted in the deaths of at least 70 Palestinians, including seven children, defying US President Donald Trump’s call for an immediate cessation of bombing in Gaza. The strikes occurred after Hamas indicated its acceptance of Trump’s peace initiative. Gaza City, the focus of the military operations, experienced the highest number of fatalities.
According to health officials, 45 people died in Gaza City. The ongoing attacks have affected over a million Gazans, leading to mass displacement and relocation to southern Gaza.
An airstrike on a residential building in Gaza’s Tuffah neighborhood killed 18 people and wounded numerous others. Rescue teams confirmed that surrounding structures were also damaged.
Israeli forces also targeted a displacement camp in al-Mawasi, southern Gaza, where civilians had been instructed to evacuate. The attack resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to at least eight others.
