Pakistani military convoys faced a series of attacks by Baloch insurgents, leading to significant casualties. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed responsibility for the attacks. A suicide attack on a military transport bus in Kalat, carried out by the BLA’s Fateh Squad, resulted in the deaths of 27 military personnel. The BLF reported separate attacks, including an IED explosion in the Khazina area of Kalat that killed four soldiers and an ambush in the Gujro Kor area of Awaran where six soldiers died, among them Major Syed Rab Nawaz Tariq. The BLF has denied claims by state media of casualties among their ranks. These attacks highlight the ongoing separatist movement in Balochistan and challenge Islamabad’s claims of having subdued the rebellion, which has persisted for decades.
