The aftermath of the Air India plane crash continues to unfold as investigators focus on the black box. Recovered shortly after the crash, the device is heavily damaged and will be sent to the United States for data extraction. The Indian AAIB, though equipped with a lab, lacks the specialized tools needed to recover data from such a damaged recorder. The NTSB will handle the analysis with oversight from Indian officials. The UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch will also participate due to the loss of British citizens. The plane, en route to London, crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in many fatalities and one survivor.
