
In a bilateral meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar conveyed to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that maintaining peace along the border is vital for fostering positive relations between India and China. Wang Yi’s visit to India took place on August 18-19, 2025, following an invitation from NSA Ajit Doval. During their discussions, Jaishankar emphasized the significance of addressing border issues and the importance of the de-escalation process. He also mentioned the need for both countries to address the international situation, seeking a fair and balanced global order. The ministers also discussed the importance of reforming multilateralism, enhancing stability in the global economy, and the fight against terrorism. Wang Yi noted the efforts to maintain peace and tranquility in border areas, as well as the resumption of Indian pilgrimages. He expressed the desire to expand cooperation and strengthen the India-China relationship. Wang Yi will be holding talks with India’s Special Representative, NSA Doval, on the India-China boundary question.
