
The Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is anticipated to visit India later this month for talks at the Special Representative level. Ajit Doval, India’s National Security Advisor, will represent India in these discussions. The talks are taking place as India and China seek to improve their relationship, as evidenced by recent developments. High-level dialogues have resumed, including meetings between Wang Yi and India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are expected to convene at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, later this month. China has officially invited Prime Minister Modi for the SCO Summit, scheduled to be held in Tianjin at the end of August. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that the summit is anticipated to enhance regional cooperation. The SCO Summit will take place in Tianjin from August 31 to September 1, and it will host leaders from over 20 countries, including all SCO member states, and representatives from 10 international organizations. India and China have agreed to disengage and restart patrols in the Depsang Plains and Demchok areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to de-escalate tensions and restore peace on the border. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has been restarted, reflecting the two nations’ enhanced cultural exchange. Tourist visas have been resumed after a five-year pause, and business ties are being revived, with Indian diesel cargo being shipped to China. Both countries are collaborating in multilateral forums such as BRICS, SCO, and G20.
