In response to the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, the Indian Embassy in Iran is beginning to reduce its evacuation efforts. The evacuation was started amidst the escalating conflict in the region. The embassy announced on X that the contact desk for new registrations is closed, but it will keep a close watch on the evolving security situation. Indians in other areas of Iran, who were planning to go to Mashhad for evacuation, are asked to stay where they are and keep an eye on news updates and embassy advice. Indians already in Mashhad and staying in embassy-arranged hotels are told to shift to the Sadr hotel by Wednesday. The embassy is keeping rooms at the Sadr hotel for two more nights until June 26 to allow citizens to assess the security situation. The ceasefire announcement followed the US President’s statement. Israel has ‘refrained’ from further attacks on Iran, following Trump’s conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu. The conflict included attacks on US military bases and Iranian sites, as well as retaliatory strikes. A flight carrying 282 evacuated Indian nationals has landed in New Delhi, increasing the total number of people evacuated under Operation Sindhu to 2,858.
