China’s Ministry of National Defense has proposed that China and India work together to jointly ensure security and harmony in their border areas. This statement was released by a spokesperson on Thursday, coinciding with the announcement of the Indian Prime Minister’s impending visit to China. The remarks were made by spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang in a press conference concerning the latest round of border talks between special representatives from China and India. During the discussions, a 10-point agreement was reached, which included the use of diplomatic and military channels for border management and control. NSA Ajit Doval represented India in the talks. Zhang highlighted that both sides exchanged their viewpoints on China-India border issues with clarity and depth, displaying a positive and constructive attitude. The discussions between Doval and Wang saw the realization of five concrete outcomes, including the establishment of an expert group under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) to find an early resolution for the border demarcation.
