Peter Navarro, a former senior advisor to Donald Trump, has launched an attack on Elon Musk via X, criticizing the platform’s handling of information regarding India’s procurement of Russian oil. Navarro disputed a community note correcting earlier false information. He doubled down on his assertions that India is profiting from oil purchases and that these actions are harmful.
These statements were made in response to a report in The Washington Post addressing the dynamics between the US and India. Navarro stated India’s tariffs negatively impact American jobs and that the money from oil sales supports Russia’s war in Ukraine. The Ministry of External Affairs of India has refuted Navarro’s comments as “inaccurate and misleading.” However, Trump himself has maintained a positive outlook on US-India relations, viewing them as “very special” and expressing his personal friendship with Prime Minister Modi. Modi acknowledged and reciprocated this positive sentiment.
