Kharkiv, a major Ukrainian city, has endured relentless Russian attacks, resulting in the deaths of at least five people. Saturday’s attacks followed a significant aerial assault the night before. Mayor Igor Terekhov reported a barrage of “at least 40 explosions” in the early hours. The attacks are possibly a response to a Ukrainian drone operation that damaged Russian cruise missile carriers. Terekhov described the assault as the most devastating since the war’s onset, with a combination of missiles, drones, and guided aerial bombs. Emergency services documented a major fire in an apartment building and a strike on a house. Additional attacks using glide bombs on Saturday evening caused more casualties, targeting a children’s playground. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky characterized the attacks as “pure terrorism.”
