Former President Donald Trump has made a series of claims regarding his role in preventing a major conflict between India and Pakistan. Trump stated that he intervened to stop a potential nuclear war between the two nations. He claimed that he stopped seven conflicts globally, including the India-Pakistan situation. During a press conference, Trump stated that he employed trade tactics, such as the threat of tariffs, to halt the fighting. He mentioned that in the India-Pakistan context, he threatened to end trade if the conflict persisted. Trump also stated that seven fighter jets were downed during the conflict. While Trump made these assertions, he did not specify the origin of the downed jets. Indian officials have contradicted Trump’s account, stating that the ceasefire was agreed upon through direct talks between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) of both countries. Trump also commented on the Russia-Ukraine war, suggesting that he would intervene more forcefully if he were still in office.
