Elon Musk has retracted a tweet that implicated former U.S. President Donald Trump in the Epstein files controversy. This action followed a public dispute between the two figures. Musk had previously claimed that the files were kept confidential, potentially due to Trump’s presence in them.
Musk had also recently resigned from his position as a special government employee for the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), citing his desire to focus on his business. The core of their disagreement revolves around Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’.
Musk’s tweet, which was later deleted, stated, “Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Following the controversy, Musk hinted at a potential truce.
In response to a tweet by American Fund Manager Bill Ackman, who advocated for peace between Trump and Musk, Musk responded, “You’s are not wrong.”
The feud arose during a critical time for Trump’s proposed tax cuts and military spending increases, described as the “big, beautiful bill.” The two figures used social media to publicly criticize each other, with Musk making explosive claims about Trump’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein. This occurred shortly after Musk’s departure from his government role.
US Vice President JD Vance voiced his support for Trump, stating on X, “President Trump has done more than any person in my lifetime to earn the trust of the movement he leads. I’m proud to stand beside him.”
