A Bangladeshi woman, Shanta Paul, has been arrested in Kolkata for allegedly utilizing forged documents to establish residency in India. Paul, who held positions as an airline crew member and a model, was apprehended following the discovery of falsified identification. Initial investigations indicate that Paul arrived in India from Barisal, Bangladesh, in 2023, with a valid passport, after which she secured a Kolkata apartment using fake documents such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, and Voter ID. Reports also indicate that Shanta has a digital marriage with Sahik Mohammad Ashraf from Andhra Pradesh. Police say she kept Ashraf’s passport with a local agent for some time.
