Hong Kong International Airport experienced a critical incident early Monday, as a Boeing 747-481 cargo plane overshot the runway upon landing. The aircraft, arriving from Dubai, reportedly struck a ground vehicle during the landing sequence, pulling the vehicle into the water at the runway’s edge. Emergency responders were immediately deployed. Tragically, two members of the ground crew were killed, although the flight crew reportedly escaped with minor injuries. Recovery operations are actively progressing at the site, where sections of the aircraft and vehicle are submerged. An official inquiry has been launched by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department to uncover the root cause of this disaster. The aircraft, identified with registration TC-ACF, was part of the Emirates network as EK9788.
