The Trump administration’s policies are set to exacerbate difficulties for millions of American families. The administration has outlined a plan to eliminate approximately 300,000 government jobs this year, causing a significant reduction in the federal workforce. This information comes from Scott Cooper, the new director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). The proposed cuts would represent a decrease of approximately 12.5% in the federal workforce since January. Cooper explained that 80% of the employees leaving will do so voluntarily, while the remaining 20% will be dismissed. This figure exceeds the 154,000 employees reported by Reuters last month who chose to retire through voluntary packages.
