Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka experienced a significant fire outbreak on Saturday, causing widespread disruption and a complete suspension of flight services. The fire, located in the vicinity of Gate 8, prompted a massive deployment of firefighting resources. Over two dozen units from the Fire Service and Civil Defence worked diligently to extinguish the flames, with support from the Navy and Air Force. Airport officials confirmed the safety of all aircraft and committed to providing ongoing updates. No immediate reports of injuries or severe damage have been confirmed, and an investigation into the fire’s origin is underway. The suspension of operations necessitated the diversion of inbound flights to Chattogram and Sylhet. The airport’s operational status was expected to be restored by 6:00 PM.
