Israeli forces arrested former Pakistani senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan. He was leading the Pakistani delegation on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was heading towards Gaza. The Israeli forces intercepted and boarded the ship. The Pak-Palestine Forum posted on X, condemning the arrest and calling for action to secure the release of the senator and the international volunteers. Details about the interception were shared by Syed Uzair Nizami, the second delegate on the observer boat. This incident unfolded against the backdrop of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan. It’s being reported that President Trump seeks Pakistan’s recognition of Israel and its participation in the Abraham Accord. Pakistan maintains its stance of non-recognition of Israel, and the Gaza issue is of great sensitivity within the country. The Israeli foreign ministry reported on X that several vessels of the Hamas-Sumud flotilla had been stopped, with passengers being transferred to an Israeli port, and stating all were safe.
