A moment of accidental amplification at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit has brought a conversation between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and former US President Donald Trump into the public eye. As leaders convened in Egypt to discuss peace in Gaza, Prabowo was overheard asking Trump for an introduction to his sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr.
The recording captures Prabowo discussing security conditions, noting an area was “not safe, security-wise.” He then asked Trump, “Can I meet Eric?” Trump’s response was accommodating: “I’ll have Eric call. Should I do that? He’s such a good boy. I’ll have Eric call.” Prabowo subsequently included Don Jr. in his request, suggesting a broader interest in connecting with the Trump sons.
This interaction raises questions due to Eric and Donald Trump Jr.’s leadership roles within the Trump Organization, which has existing and planned golf course projects in Indonesia. The incident occurs at a time when former President Trump faces scrutiny over his global business entanglements. The audio does not clarify the exact purpose behind Prabowo’s request, leaving open the possibility of business, diplomatic, or personal motivations. Both Trump and his sons are involved in the family’s extensive real estate and hospitality empire.
